The Oregon men’s golf team added transfer Owen Avrit from Long Beach State.

The Arroyo Grande, Calif., native will have three years of eligibility with the Ducks.

Avrit began his college career by sharing the individual title at the Husky Invitational last fall by shooting 6-under, including a 5-under 67 in the opening round. The following week, he placed ninth at the Nick Watney Invitational after finishing up with a 7-under 64.

Avrit placed 22nd at the Pacific Invitational and 27th at the Arizona Intercollegiate. He finished his freshman season with a 71.80 scoring average in seven tournaments.

“We are excited with the addition of Owen to our team,” UO coach Casey Martin said in a statement. “He is a young man who was sort of a late bloomer and really came into his own this past season. He won a big golf tournament and had some low rounds as a freshman. We were hoping to use the transfer portal to better our team and feel like we hit a home run with Owen.”
