Sophomore second baseman Sam Novitske became the first Oregon baseball player ever named to the first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District team.

Novitske, who has started 71 games in two years with the Ducks while batting .288 with 59 runs and a .390 on-base percentage, has a 3.95 grade-point average.

Novitske set UO freshman records in 2019 with 70 hits and 48 runs while becoming the third Duck freshman in the modern era with a batting average over .300. He had a hit in 12 of 15 games as a sophomore.

Current Oregon assistant coach Jack Marder was the only other UO player to earn academic all-district honors when he was a second-team selection in 2011.

Oregon State junior Ryan Ober also earned first-team honors after compiling a 3.66 GPA. The third baseman is batting .250 with 10 doubles, three homers and 27 RBI in 65 career games.

Novitske and Ober are eligible to be named academic all-Americans.
