The Oregon volleyball team has added former Kansas State player Gloria Mutiri to its roster.

Mutiri, an opposite hitter, will be a junior and will be eligible to play in 2020, Oregon coach Matt Ulmer said Tuesday in announcing Mutiri’s transfer from the Wildcats.

Mutiri was a regular starter each of her two seasons at Kansas State. She appeared in 55 matches where she averaged 2.62 kills per set with a hitting percentage of .252. She also averaged 0.65 blocks and 1.53 digs per set.

“Gloria is a big-time addition to our team,” Ulmer said in a school news release. “She can score points and put up an imposing block at the highest level. We are thrilled to add Gloria’s experience and personality to our program.”

Mutiri enjoyed a stellar freshman season in 2018, earning AVCA all-America honorable mention recognition while being named the AVCA Midwest Freshman of the Year and first-team all-Midwest Region. She was just the second Kansas State freshman to receive all-America recognition and one of 17 freshmen in 2018 to be named to an AVCA all-America team. Mutiri also earned all-Big 12 rookie ream honors and was named second-team all-Big 12.
