CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. — Brooke Yanez struck out 11 Northwestern batters in a complete-game effort as the No. 17 Oregon softball team concluded the Mary Nutter Classic with a 6-3 win over Northwestern on Saturday.

Oregon is off to a 14-0 start thanks to a 5-0 performance at the Mary Nutter Classic.

The Ducks got all the runs they needed in the bottom of the fourth inning when Haley Cruse singled home two runs, Terra McGowan had an RBI double and Rachel Cid had an RBI single for a 4-0 lead.

The Wildcats (4-8) cut the lead to 4-3 in the top of the third inning on a three-run home run by Maeve Nelson.

Deijah Pangilinan, who scored on Cruse's single in the second, doubled in the fifth and came around to score on a poor relay throw from the outfield. She accounted for the game's final run in the sixth when she drove in Allee Bunker with a sacrifice fly.

That was more than enough for Yanez, who improved to 7-0. She allowed four hits, three earned runs and walked on in addition to the 11 strikeouts.
