PHOENIX — Channy Ortiz scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 12th inning to lead Grand Canyon to a 4-3 nonconference baseball win over Oregon on Tuesday afternoon.

Oregon freshman pitcher Decker Stedman retired the first two batters in the 12th before he walked one batter and hit another. After the runners advanced on an error, Stedman threw a wild pitch that ended the game.

Oregon lost all four games during its season-opening trip to Arizona. The Ducks return home to host Nevada in a three-game series beginning Friday at PK Park.

Kenyon Yovan hit two homers for the Ducks, who had 11 hits compared to five for GCU.

Yovan's second homer in the top of the eighth tied the score at 3-3.

Oregon scored first in the fourth inning after Yovan doubled and went to third on a single by Gabe Matthews. Anthony Hall walked to load the bases before Aaron Zavala hit a sacrifice fly.

Grand Canyon took the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Dominic Grissom hit a two-run homer off UO starter Brett Walker, who allowed two runs and four hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Yovan led off the top of the sixth with a home run to tie the game.

Grand Canyon went back ahead in the bottom of the inning when UO reliever Andrew Mosiello walked Drew Smith and reliever Nico Tellache walked Brock Burton. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch before Grissom hit a sacrifice fly.

Yovan and Matthews each had three hits for the Ducks while shortstop Gavin Grant added two. Tellache, Hunter Breault and Kolby Somers all tossed two scoreless innings of relief for UO.
