Oregon’s early football signing period was even better than originally announced.
Four-star cornerback Dontae Manning revealed Thursday that he also signed with the Ducks last month. The 6-foot-0, 185-pounder from Kansas City waited until the Under Armour All-American Game to go public with his choice.
Oregon later confirmed that it received Manning’s letter of intent during the early period that ran from Dec. 18-20.
Manning is the 21st player in UO’s 2020 recruiting class with more additions likely when the next signing period begins Feb. 5. His addition moved Oregon up to No. 12 in the 247 rankings, passing Washington for the top class in the Pac-12.
Manning joins Luke Hill as true freshmen cornerbacks for the Ducks next season.
Oregon could return starters Thomas Graham and Deommodore Lenoir, but both are reviewing evaluations they received while considering an early exit for the NFL. Freshmen cornerbacks Mykael Wright and DJ James return after serving as backups this season.
