Oregon women's soccer coach Kat Mertz announced her resignation Friday, one day after the Ducks' season ended with a 1-0 home Civil War loss to Oregon State.
Oregon finished the season 5-9-5 and was 1-8-2 in the Pac-12 Conference.
Mertz went 47-74-13 in seven seasons leading the Ducks. Mertz, the fifth coach in program history, went 9-9-1 last season, giving Oregon its highest win total since 2009.
“We would like to thank Kat for all of her efforts with the Oregon soccer program,” Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens said in a school news release. “We appreciate all of her dedication and hard work toward elevating our program, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
Associate head coach Manny Martins will serve as Oregon's interim coach. A national search is underway to find Mertz's replacement.
