PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — For the second straight day, Oregon sophomore Tom Gueant shot a season-low round, this time recording a 2-under 69 to move into a tie for ninth place after round two of the Saint Mary’s Invitational men's golf tournament at the par-71, 7,002-yard Poppy Hills Golf Course.
The Ducks are 11-over 579 for the tournament after shooting 8-over Tuesday, and are tied for 11th.
Nate Stember turned in a steady round of 1-over 72 and is tied for 52nd, Yin Ho Yue shot a 3-over 74 and Gian Luca Martinez shot an even-par 71 playing as an individual, making six birdies on the day.
For Oregon State, Sean Kato carded a 3-under 68 to lead the Beavers, who played the second round with four players, as All-Pac-12 golfer Spencer Tibbits had to withdraw due to illness.
The Beavers are in eighth place in the 16-team field after posting a 3-over 280-291—571. Sophomore Carson Barry, the reigning Pac-12 Golfer of the Month, is tied for 14th place with a 2-under 69-71—140.
The final round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
