PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — The Oregon State's men's golf team is in fifth place and Oregon is in ninth place after the opening day of the three-day Saint Mary's Invitational at Poppy Hills Golf Club.

The Beavers shot a 4-under 280 on the par-71 7,002-yard course. The Ducks shot a 3-over 287 in the 16-team field.

Colorado State leads the team race at 17-under 267, nine shots ahead of runner-up BYU and 11 shots ahead of third-place Arizona.

Oregon State's Jackson Lake is tied for sixth at 3-under 68 and teammate Carson Berry is tied for ninth at 69. Oregon Stater's Spencer Tibbits and Shawn Lu are among those tied for 21st at 70 as is Oregon's Tom Gueant.

Oregon's Yin Ho Yu is tied for 33rd at 71.

Colorado State's Davis Bryant is the individual leader at 64, one shot ahead of teammate Oscar Teiffel and Arizona's Brad Reeves.
