HARLECH, Wales — Former Oregon golf coach Lara Tennant captured the R&A Women's Senior Amateur Championship on Friday, tying for the lead on the final day before winning on the third playoff hole.

She's just the second golfer from the United States to win the title in the 25 years of the championship.

The Portland golfer birdied the 16th and 17th holes and shot an even-par 75 on her final round to finish tied atop the leaderboard at 3 under with Alison Taylor of Ireland and Sylvie Van Molle of Belgium.
