HARLECH, Wales — Former Oregon women's golf coach Lara Tennant fired a 2-under 73 on Thursday and is in second place after two rounds of the R&A Women's Senior Amateur Championship at Royal St. David’s Golf Club.

The Portland golfer, at 3-under 147, trails leader Alison Taylor of Ireland by two strokes heading into Friday's final round. Tennant and Taylor are the only golfers in the 85-player field under par. Judith Kyrinis of Canada is in third at even-par 150.

Tennant opened the 54-hole stroke-play competition Wednesday by shooting a first-round 74, which placed her in a tie for second at 1-under par. Earlier this year she won her second consecutive U.S. Senior Women's Amateur crown and her third consecutive Oregon Senior Women's Amateur title.
