BREMERTON, Wash. — Oregon freshman Nate Stember kicked off his collegiate career with rounds of 69 and 71 on Monday to finish the opening day of the Husky Invitational men's golf tournament tied for ninth.

The Ducks are in fifth place as a team at 4-under after shooting 2-under 572 over two rounds at the par-72, 7,159-yard Gold Mountain Golf Club.

Also for Oregon, Craig Ronne shot a 1-under and is tied for 17th at 72-71—143. Tom Gueant is tied for 19th at 72-72—144, Yin Ho Yue (73-72−145) is tied for 24th and Kevin Geniza (77-72−149) is tied for 50th.

For Oregon State, Spencer Tibbits fired a pair of sub-par rounds and is tied for second at 70-68—138.

The Beavers sit in fourth place after posting a 7-under 283-286—569.

Host Washington leads the way at 22 under, and Long Beach State’s Owen Avrit holds the individual lead at 7-under.

The final round of the two-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday
