UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The 10th-ranked Oregon volleyball team was swept by a top 10 Big Ten for the second straight night Saturday with a 3-0 loss to No. 4 Penn State in the Pac-12/Big Ten Challenge.
The Nittany Lions downed the Ducks, 25-21, 29-27, 25-19. Oregon also lost in three sets to No. 8 Minnesota on Friday.
Penn State improved to 6-1 while the Ducks fell to 2-3 with their third straight loss.
Taylor Williams and Brooke Nuneviller had 10 kills apiece for Oregon, and Ronika Stone added nine. Kylie Robinson handed out 38 assists for the Ducks, Georgia Murphy had 14 digs and Nuneviller added 10.
Penn State's Jonni Parker had a match-high 15 kills. Gabby Blossom handed out 40 assists, and Kendall White tallied 12 digs.
The Ducks used a late 8-3 run in the first set to pull within 21-19, but could get no closer. Oregon started strong in set two, leading 13-9 and 20-14 behind two Karson Bacon kills, but the Nittany Lions roared back to take a 24-23 lead before winning 29-27.
Oregon led 8-7 in the third set before Penn State rallied for a 17-12 lead. Oregon used a 7-2 run for a 19-19 tie, but Penn State finished the match with six straight points to secure the sweep.
