The 11th-ranked Oregon volleyball team improved to 2-0 with a 25-21, 25-20, 25-16 win over Boston College on Saturday in the Oregon Classic Tournament at Matthew Knight Arena.
Willow Johnson had 14 kills and 11 digs for the Ducks, Ronika Stone had 13 kills and Brooke Nuneviller added nine kills and 10 digs.
In a back-and-forth first set, Boston College pulled within 22-21 on a Cat Balido kill before the Ducks scored the final three points of the set for the win on kills from Stone, Taylor Williams and Karson Bacon.
Oregon led 5-1 and 11-3 in the second set. After taking a 22-15 lead on a Johnson kill, the Ducks saw the Eagles reel of five straight points to pull within 22-20. Oregon, however, closed out the set with a Johnson kill and two Boston College attack errors.
In the third set, the Ducks used a 4-0 run for an 8-3 lead and another 4-0 run to expand a 10-6 edge to 14-6. Oregon also closed the set and match on a 4-0 run after the Eagles pulled within 20-16. Stone had two kills and Nuneviller ond in the match-ending 4-0 spurt.
Kylie Robinson handed out 40 assists for Oregon. Jewel Strawberry had nine kills and nine digs for Boston College (1-2).
