The Oregon men’s basketball team added graduate transfer Anthony Mathis on Wednesday night.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound guard averaged 14.4 points per game last season as a junior at New Mexico while shooting 41.6 percent on 3-pointers. Mathis, who averaged 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game last year, will be eligible to play as a senior next season at Oregon.

Mathis played with UO senior guard Payton Pritchard at West Linn High School.

“Officially coming home,” he posted on Twitter. “Couldn’t be happier.”

Mathis averaged 12.7 points and 2.1 rebounds per game as a sophomore while shooting 47.3 percent on 3-pointers. In 101 games with the Lobos, he shot 44.3 percent from the field and 43.1 percent on 3-pointers while averaging 1.6 rebounds per game.

Mathis becomes the seventh player on Oregon’s roster next season. The Ducks return Pritchard and sophomores Will Richardson and Francis Okoro while adding freshmen C.J. Walker, Chandler Lawson, and junior-college transfer Chris Duarte.
