Oregon senior men's sprinter Cravon Gillespie has been named the USTFCCCA West Region Men's Track Athlete of the Year and associate head coach Curtis Taylor has been named West Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year.
Gillespie has set school records in the 100 (9.97 seconds) and 200 (20.17) this season and teamed with Oraine Palmer, Spenser Schmidt and Rieker Daniel to set a school record of 38.72 in the 4x100 relay.
Gillespie was the Pac-12 Conference's Athlete of the Meet after winning the 100 and 200 and running on the winning 4x100 relay team at the conference meet. He tied the meet record in the 100 set by USC's Andre DeGrasse in 2015. Gillespie will be competing in all three events at next week's NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas.
Taylor coaches the Ducks' sprinters, hurdlers and relays. His athletes account for eight of Oregon's 15 NCAA Championship meet entries. He had five men's Pac-12 champions in Gillespie's three events, Orwin Emilien in the 400 and Eric Edwards in the 110 hurdles.
