Just days after winning a pair of Pac-12 track & Field Championship titles last weekend, Oregon sprinter Cravon Gillespie was named the conference’s men’s track athlete of the year Wednesday.
On Sunday, the redshirt senior ran a school-record 9.97 seconds to win his second straight Pac-12 100-meter title, equaling the meet record set by Andre De Grasse in 2015. It also marked the first time an Oregon sprinter ran under 10 seconds.
Later in the meet, he won the 200 title in 20.17, lowering his own school record and joining Kyree King as the only winner of the 100-200 double at the conference meet in school history.
Gillespie was also on the the winning 4x100 team that set the school record in 38.72.
All together, Gillespie scored 22.5 points as the Ducks won their 13th straight men’s title.
Nationally, Gillespie is ranked third in the 100 and fourth in the 200.
