Rob Mullens will remain at Oregon and isn't pursuing the vacant athletic director's position at Texas A&M, sources told The Register-Guard.
The Oregonian reported last week that Mullens was on a short list of candidates targeted by Texas A&M after athletic director Scott Woodward left for LSU. According to industry sources, Mullens isn't engaged with the search and the Aggies have turned their attention to other candidates.
Mullens signed a contract extension in 2017 that runs through 2024 at an annual salary of $717,500. At the time, he said his intention was to negotiate a deal that would keep him in Eugene through his youngest son's high school graduation.
"For us, this is where we want to be," Mullens said in 2017. "We knew that. That was the biggest piece."
Mullens has been a member of the College Football Playoff selection committee since 2016. He was named chairman before the 2018 season and will serve another year in that capacity before his term expires in February 2020.
