Oregon coach Mario Cristobal and his staff are hoping to land a five-star recruit on Cinco de Mayo.
DJ Uiagalelei, the top-ranked quarterback prospect in the 2020 class, will announce his decision on Sunday.
Defending national champion Clemson is considered the likely destination for the 6-foot-4, 240-pound prospect from Bellflower, Calif., but Uiagalelei is also considering Oregon.
During the spring game, Uiagalelei had a chance to meet childhood heroes Marcus Mariota and Jeremiah Masoli.
If Uiagalelei leaves this West Coast for ACC country he would likely backup Trevor Lawrence for one season at Clemson. Oregon’s starting spot will be open for competition in 2020 after Justin Herbert’s eligibility expires this season.
Clemson’s 2020 class is currently ranked No. 1 by 247Sports with three five-star and 10 four-star recruits verbally committed.
Oregon has the highest-ranked class in the Pac-12 and is No. 15 at this point in the cycle with seven non-binding pledges (five four-stars, two three-stars).
Four-star wide receiver Kris Hutson, a teammate of Uiagalelei’s at St. John Bosco, committed to Oregon during his visit for the spring game.
