SAN JOSE - San Jose State scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to beat Oregon 4-3 in a nonconference baseball game Monday night.
UO reliever Ryne Nelson hit Brandon Peterson with a pitch to open the ninth before he advanced to second on a balk and scored on a single by Jame Shimashita, who reached third on a throwing error by Nelson. Nick Knecht put down a bunt that scored Shimashita with the winning run.
Oregon scored twice in the first inning when Sam Novitske singled and Spencer Steer walked before Gabe Matthews moved the runners up on a ground out. Evan Williams followed with a two-run single.
The Ducks stretched the lead to 3-0 in the fifth when Novitske singled and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Tanner Smith before scoring on a single by Steer.
Oregon starter Tyler Frazier allowed a run in the fifth inning before Christian Ciuffetelli tossed 2/3 scoreless innings. Hunter Breault an Nico Tellache threw a scoreless inning before Nelson allowed one run in the eighth and two in the ninth.
Novitske went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and Steer was 2-for-4.
