Oregon junior shortstop Spencer Steer picked up another weekly award Tuesday when the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association named Steer its National Hitter of the Week.

Steer led the Ducks to a 3-1 record last week that included a nonconference win over Oregon State before Oregon took two out of three Pac-12 games at Washington State. Steer was 9-for-19 (.474) with three home runs, 12 RBIs and six runs in the four games. Two of his three homers were grand slams, including a game-tying two-out homer in the ninth inning of Sunday's loss to the Cougars. Steer hit two homers Sunday, the second time this season he had two homers in a game.

Steer extended his hitting streak to 14 games last week and made it 15 straight with a hit in Monday's win at Gonzaga.

Steer leads the Ducks with a .356 batting average and has 28 runs, 47 hits and five homers in starting all 35 games. He also leads Oregon in hits, home runs, total bases, on-base average and slugging percentage.
