TUCSON, Ariz. — No. 12 Arizona smacked four home runs Friday and handed Oregon its seventh straight loss with an 8-0 win in six innings in the Pac-12 Conference opener for both teams.
Alyssa Palomino blasted two home runs for the Wildcats and was 2-for-4 with four RBIs. She had a solo homer n the bottom of the third inning to give Arizona a 3-0 lead and blasted a three-run shot in the sixth inning.
Dejah Mulipola opened the scoring in the second inning with a solo homer. Rylee Pierce added a solo shot in the fourth.
Meanwhile, the Ducks were held to two hits — singles by Alley Bunker and Cherish Burks — by Arizona pitcher Taylor McQuillin, who struck out eight and walked none.
Jordan Dail went the distance in the circle for Oregon, allowing 13 hits and three walks while striking out one in 5 2/3 innings.
