HONOLULU — Freshman third baseman Sam Novitske had three hits to lead Oregon to a 3-1 win over Hawaii late Friday night.
Oregon scored twice in the first inning when Novitske led off with a triple and Jonny DeLuca walked. Novitske scored on a double steal before Gabe Matthews singled in DeLuca.
Hawaii scored a run in the fourth inning before Oregon added a run in the seventh after Novitske singled and went to second on a wild pitch and reached third on a passed ball. DeLuca followed with a single to score Novitske.
UO starter Cullen Kafka allowed six hits and one run in seven innings before reliever Kolby Somers tossed two scoreless innings.
