PORTLAND — Portland scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat Oregon 5-3 Tuesday night in a nonconference baseball game at Joe Etzel Field.

Kolby Somers pitched four scoreless innings before Hunter Breault, Peyton Fuller and Christian Ciuffetelli each tossed a scoreless inning of relief for the Ducks.

Brett Walker opened the eighth inning by allowing two runs before Nico Tellache relieved him and gave up three runs.

Oregon (7-3) took the lead with a run in the second inning when Jakob Goldfarb was hit by a pitch and Aaron Zavala walked before Cameron Campbell doubled in Goldfarb.

The Ducks added two runs in the top of the eighth after Jonny DeLuca walked and Spencer Steer was hit by a pitch. Gabe Matthews put down a sacrifice bunt before Goldfarb hit a two-run single.

Sam Novitske and Matthews had two hits apiece for the Ducks, who begin a four-game set at Hawaii on Thursday.
