UO falls to 0-3 at the Judi Garman Classic in California

FULLERTON, Calif. — The No. 20 Oregon softball team fell to 0-3 at the Judi Garman Classic after an 8-0 run-rule loss to No. 22 Auburn on Friday at PGF Field.

The Ducks (11-7) play Michigan and No. 7 Tennessee on Saturday before coach Melyssa Lombardi’s home debut against Oklahoma State next Friday at Jane Sanders Stadium.

Jordan Dail (9-3) allowed five hits and four earned runs over four innings during her third loss in two days. Kailey Krueger, a freshman walk-on from West Linn, allowed two hits and three runs in the fifth inning.

Auburn ace Makayla Martin (8-1) allowed three hits with nine strikeouts and no walks during her five-inning shutout.

Senior Cherish Burks had two of the Ducks’ hits, including a double.

Oregon, which is now 1-4 against ranked teams with an early-season win over then-No. 8 LSU, lost 2-1 to No. 3 Florida and 3-2 to host Cal State Fullerton on Thursday.

The Tigers (16-3), who opened the tournament with wins over Loyola Marymount (9-2) and Texas-San Antonio (7-1), will play both No. 2 UCLA and No. 5 Washington on Saturday.
