CATHEDRAL, Calif. — Cherish Burks homered and Jordan Dail had another strong pitching outing Friday in leading the No. 17 Oregon softball team to an 11-0 run-rule victory over Army at the Mary Nutter Classic.

The Ducks (9-3) scored four runs in the first, one in the third and five in the fourth to end the game after five innings.

Burks walked with the bases loaded to bring home one run in the first inning, hit a solo home run in the third to make it 5-0 and singled home a run in the fourth to make it 8-0 as part of a 2-for-2 game with three RBIs and two runs.

Jasmine Sievers was also 2-for-2 with two runs for Oregon, Haley Cruse scored twice and Bailey Cook had two RBIs.

That was more than enough support for Dail, who allowed five hits and two walks while striking out eight in five innings to run her record to 7-0.

Oregon State wins twice, improves to 10-2

STOCKTON, Calif. — The Oregon State softball team downed Nevada, 5-1 on Friday at the University of Pacific's Libby Matson Tournament before finishing its day with 12-2 rout of Pacific.

The Beavers never trailed in the win over the Wolf Pack after Missy Nunes put Oregon State up 1-0 in the top of the first with an RBI double.

Frankie Hammoude hit a two-run homer in the third inning and Kaylee Shafer hit a two-run homer in the sixth for a commanding 5-0 lead.

Meehra Nelson went the distance in the circle, striking out 10, walking two and allowing five hits.

Against Pacific, Shelby Weeks went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, Bailey McLaughlin was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs and Maia Rader was 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs.

The Beavers led 3-1 after three innings and blew the game open with six runs in the top of the fourth.

Nerissa Eason went the distance in the circle, allowing three hits and five strikeouts while walking eight.
