LUBBOCK, Texas — Oregon let a 4-1 lead get away in a 6-4 baseball loss at No. 8 Texas Tech on Sunday afternoon.
The Ducks (1-2) took the lead in the second inning when Jakob Goldfarb doubled and scored on a single by Vinny Tosti.
Sam Novitske walked in the second and advanced to second on a single by Jonny DeLuca. Gabe Matthews singled in Novitske to put Oregon up 2-0.
The Ducks went up 3-0 in the fourth when Max Foxcroft reached on a fielder’s choice and stole second before scoring on a single by Tanner Smith.
Texas Tech scored in the bottom of the fourth before Oregon added a run in the fifth when DeLuca doubled and scored on a single by Spencer Steer.
Texas Tech got a run in the fifth and two in the sixth to tie the game off Oregon starter Cullen Kafka. The Red Raiders added two runs in the seventh off reliever Robert Ahlstrom.
DeLuca and Goldfarb each had three hits to pace the Ducks, who play Texas Tech again Monday.
Oregon State 13, Minnesota 1
SURPRISE, Ariz. — Adley Rutschman hit a fourth-inning grand slam, his second home run of the season, and Nathan Burns tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to lead Oregon State to a 13-1 win over Minnesota on Sunday.
Rutschman's slam cleared the centerfield fence to give the Beavers (3-0) a 7-1 lead. OSU had scored two runs in the first after RBIs from Tyler Malone and Andy Armstrong. Alex McGarry drove in a run with an infield single before Rutschman’s homer.
Burns held Minnesota (1-2) hitless, allowing one walk and striking out four. He is 0-1.
Rutschman, who also scored four runs, McGarry, Malone, Armstrong and Preston Jones each had two hits for the Beavers, who finished with 17 overall.
