SEATTLE — The Oregon men's track team had four runners break four minutes in the mile Saturday at the UW Last Chance Meet at Dempsey Indoor.
Charlie Hunter, James West, Blake Haney, Jackson Mestler and Reed Brown finished 2-3-5-7-8, respectively in the race.
Hunter finished second in 3 minutes, 57.74 seconds and West was third in 3:57.75 for the eighth- and ninth-best times in school history. Haney was fifth in a season-best 3:58.73 and Mestler, a Sheldon High graduate, took seventh in a PR of 3:59.77. Brown was eighth in 4:05.81.
Based on times entering the day, Hunter and West have the fifth- and sixth-best times in the NCAA this season with Brown, who has run 3:58.22 this season, 11th and Haney 15th. The Ducks have six runners who have broken four minutes this season with Cooper Teare holding a season best of 3:59.21.
The top 16 in each individual event at the end of the season qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 8-9 in Birmingham, Ala.
