WAIKOLOA, Hawaii — The Oregon men's golf team slipped one spot at the Amer Ari Invitational during Friday's second round at the Waikoloa Kings' Course.
The Ducks, who were in third place after Thursday's first round, shot a 7-under 281 on Friday and are tied with Texas Tech for fourth place at 24-under 281.
Oklahoma State continues to lead the team race at 36-under 540, five shots ahead of USC. Auburn is sixth at 553, one shot behind Oregon and Texas Tech.
Oregon State, which was in a tie for 12th after the first day, shot a 9-under 279 Friday to move up to ninth place at 12-under 564.
Oregon has two golfers in the top four as Edwin Yi shot a 7-under 65 Friday to move into second place at 12-under 132, one shot behind leader Cole Hammer of Texas.
Oregon's Sam Foust is tied with three others for fourth place at 11-under 133 after Foust shot a 67. Teammate Ryan Gronlund, however, fell 22 spots to a tie for 24th after being second Thursday with a 65. He shot a 75 Friday and is at 4-under 140.
The Beavers are led by Trevor Yu, who is tied with Gronlund and a host of others at 140. Yu shot a 1-under 71 Friday. Oregon State's Spencer Tibbits had one of the biggest improvements Friday, leaping 34 spots into a tie for 31st at 3-under 141 after shooting 68. Oregon State's Sean Kato is among those tied with Tibbits after shooting a 2-under 70.
