SURPRISE, Ariz. — Oregon's Thomas Laurent won a pair of matches Friday and advanced to the semifinals at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Fall Championships.

The Duck senior, the No. 5 seed who advanced as far as the semifinals in this tournament a year ago, will battle top-seeded Petros Chrysochos of Wake Forest on Saturday. The winner moves on to Sunday's finals.

Laurent downed Ohio State's John McNally in the round of 16 on Friday morning 6-4, 1-6, 6-0 before beating Miami's Adria Sorriano Barrera in the afternoon quarterfinals 7-6 (1), 7-5.

In the singles consolation bracket, North Carolina's Josh Peck eliminated Oregon's Emmanuel Coste 6-4, 6-0.

In the doubles consolation bracket, Laurent and Joshua Charlton advanced to the semifinals with a 7-6 (7), 5-7, 10-8 win over Nevada's Julien Evrard and Kostya Nesterenko. The duo will play the South Alabama team of Loic Cloes and Clement Marzol on Saturday.
