The Oregon softball team will play 16 opponents that reached the NCAA postseason last spring, including four that made it to the Women's College World Series, according to the Ducks' 2019 schedule that was announced Friday.

“It’s a tough schedule,” first-year coach Melyssa Lombardi said in a news release. “There’s a lot of tough opponents. But I fully believe that, in order for us to be the best, we have to play the best.”

Oregon opens the season Feb. 8 at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz., against Cal State Northridge, where former UO all-American Cheridan Hawkins is now the pitching coach. The Ducks will play 17 home games with the home opener scheduled for March 8 against Oklahoma State.

The four opponents coming off WCWS seasons will be Florida on the road, and Washington, UCLA and Arizona State in Pac-12 play.
