VERO BEACH, Fla. — Former University of Oregon women's golf coach Lara Mack Tennant captured the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship on Thursday with a 3 and 2 victory over Sue Wooster of Australia at Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club.

Tennant, 51, began the six-day tournament with a top-10 finish in stroke play qualifying. The Portland golfer downed six opponents in match play, including 2004 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur champion Corey Weworski in the quarterfinals and 2017 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur runner-up Terrill Samuel in the semifinals.

Tennant also won both the Oregon Senior Women’s Amateur and Oregon Women’s Mid-Amateur Championships the past two years.
