PULLMAN, Wash. — Maegan O'Neill's header in the 69th minute snapped a 1-all tie and helped carry No. 9-ranked and unbeaten Washington State to a 2-1 victory over visiting Oregon in a Pac-12 Conference women's soccer match Thursday.

After a scoreless first half, Elyse Bennett broke the ice for the Cougars (8-0-0, 2-0-0 Pac-12) in the 48th minute with her third goal of the season on a run up the left side with an assist by Sydney Pulver.

The Ducks (7-2-1, 1-1-0), whose five-game win streak came to an end, answered 10 minutes later when Sofia Chambers' free kick was deflected into the goal by O'Neill. It was Chambers' first goal of the season.

O'Neill, however, delivered the game-winner on an assist by Maddy Haro for her third score of the year.

Washington State outshot Oregon 18-11 and had three more shots on goal, 9-6.

Duck goalkeeper Halla Hinriksdottir finished with seven saves, tying her career high, while Rachel Thompson had five saves in goal for the Cougars.

Oregon next plays at 2 p.m. Sunday at Washington.
