HONOLULU — Lindsey Vander Weide and Ronika Stone energized the Oregon offense as the Ducks notched a nonconference volleyball victory over Hawaii late Thursday night.
Vander Weide delivered a season-high 15 kills on .375 hitting and finished with seven digs, a pair of blocks and an ace in Oregon's 25-18, 25-23, 25-22 sweep of the Wahine. Stone added 12 kills on .500 hitting and five blocks, and led Oregon's charge in the first set.
Oregon (6-3) was quickly down 7-1 to Hawaii (4-4) in the second set and trailed 21-13 before staging a comeback. Vander Weide fueled the rally with consecutive kills, followed later by another kill that ignited a 7-0 run for the victory. The Ducks had an ace and five kills in the final seven points, including three straight by Lauren Page.
Oregon closed out its nonconference schedule late Friday with another match against Hawaii. The Ducks will next face Oregon State in their Pac-12 opener at 6 p.m. Thursday at Matthew Knight Arena.
