Tony Brooks-James was placed on the watch list for the Doak Walker Award on Wednesday.

The award goes annually to the top running back in college football.

Brooks-James is expected to replace Royce Freeman as Oregon’s starting running back. Brooks-James has 1,557 career rushing yards with 14 touchdowns while catching 37 passes for 319 yards and two scores in three seasons as a reserve with the Ducks.

The 5-foot-9, 185-pounder from Gainesville, Fla., ran for a career-high 771 yards as a sophomore before finishing with 498 yards last season. Brooks-James had 14 kickoff returns for 360 yards and a touchdown as a junior.
