TAMPERE, Finland — Oregon sprinter Lauren Rain Williams won a silver medal in the women’s 200 meters on Saturday during the IAAF World Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The freshman finished in 23.09 seconds, with Jamaica’s Briana Williams winning gold in a meet-record 22.50.
Also Saturday, Duck freshman Shae Anderson ran the second leg on the U.S women’s 4x400 relay team that posted the fastest time of the two semifinal heats at 3:33.11.
Incoming Oregon freshmen Josh Hoey and Lexi Ellis had their meet come to end Saturday.
Hoey ran a personal-best 1:48.07 during his semifinal heat of the men’s 800 but didn’t qualify for Sunday’s final.
Ellis finished 17th during the qualifying round of the women’s triple jump with a mark of 41 feet, 8 3/4 inches and didn’t make the finals.
