Oregon State junior Cadyn Grenier has been named the winner of the Brooks Wallace Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top collegiate shortstop.
Grenier, a first-round draft pick of the Baltimore Orioles, last week, is the first Oregon State player to win the award.
Grenier is batting .322 for the Beavers, who open College World Series play in Omaha, Neb., on Saturday against North Carolina. Grenier, the Pac-12 Conference defensive player of the year, also has five home runs, 44 RBIs and eight stolen bases. At shortstop, he has a .973 fielding percentage.
