Linemen for Oregon and Oregon State have been selected to the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, given annual to the most outstanding centers in NCAA Division I football, award organizers announced this week.
Duck junior Jake Hanson and Beaver senior Sumner Houston are among the 57 players named to the spring watch list. Hanson and Sumner also were selected for the watch list last year.
Hanson, who has 25 consecutive starts at center the past two seasons, also earned preseason all-Pac-12 second team honors from Athlon Sports. He has played 97 percent of the offensive snaps since becoming the starting center in 2016. Since then, he hasn’t allowed a sack and has helped Oregon rush for more than 200 yards in 19 of 25 games.
Houston started 11 games last season at center and eight at defensive tackle as a sophomore before moving to the offense between the 2016 and ’17 seasons.
