STOCKTON, Calif. — The Oregon men's golf team remained in sixth place Tuesday after the second round of the NCAA Pacific Regional at The Reserve at Spanos Park.
The Ducks shot a 5-under 283 Tuesday for a two-round total of 4-under 572 and are tied for sixth place with Colorado.
Oregon is three shots behind fifth-place TCU and four shots behind fourth-place Stanford. The top five teams after Wednesday's third and final round advance to the NCAA Championships later this month in Stillwater, Okla.
Alabama and Iowa State are tied for the team lead at 14-under 562. Kansas is one shot back in third place. Following Oregon and Colorado are LSU and UNC Greensboro, four shots behind the Ducks and Buffaloes at even-par 576.
Oregon's Norman Xiong moved up two spots individually to move into second place at 9-under 135 after a bogey-free round of 67. Xiong is one shot behind Stanford's Brandon Wu, who has had back-to-back rounds of 67.
The top three individuals not on qualifying teams advance to the NCAA Championships. Xiong is one shot ahead of Iowa State's Denzel Ieremia, who is third. Ieremia is one shot ahead of Alabama's Wilson Furr and TCU's Hayden Springer.
Oregon's Ryan Gronlund and Kevin Geniza are tied for 42nd place at 2-over 146. Gronlund shot a 2-over 74 Tuesday and Geniza shot an even-par 72. Edwin Yi is in 52nd place for the Ducks at 3-over 147 and Donald Kay is at 8-over 152 and tied for 69th.
