CORVALLIS — The top two baseball teams in the Pac-12 Conference meet for the opener of a three-game series Friday night at Oregon State's Goss Stadium.

Second-ranked Stanford (38-6) enters the 7 p.m. game against fourth-ranked Oregon State (36-7) leading the conference standings at 17-4. The Beavers are 14-6, not counting Sunday's tie against Washington State. UCLA is another half-game back at 14-7.

The series marks the first time since 2014 that two top-five teams are meeting in Corvallis. Oregon State leads the Pac-12 by a wide margin in team batting average at .321 while Stanford leads the Pac-12 by a wide margin in team ERA at 2.54. The Beavers also lead the conference in runs and are second in home runs. The Cardinal's pitching staff has given up the fewest hits in the Pac-12 and the second-fewest walks.
