IRVINE, Calif. — Parker Koss hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift UC Irvine to a 10-9 victory over Oregon on Saturday evening.
Spencer Steer had three hits and five RBIs for the Ducks (21-23), who blew a 6-0 lead. Jakob Goldfarb had two hits and four RBIs and Kyle Kasser also had two hits.
Oregon opened the game with two runs in the first inning after Goldfarb was hit by a pitch, Kasser singled and Steer hit a two-run double.
The Ducks added four runs in the second when Gabe Matthews walked, Ray Soderman singled and Goldfarb hit a two-out inside-the-park homer to put the Ducks ahead 5-0.
Kasser followed with a double and scored on a single by Steer.
UC Irvine (27-18) scored a run in the second and cut the lead to 6-3 with two runs in the third. The Anteaters scored in the fourth and fifth innings and scored three times in the seventh to take a 8-7 lead.
The Ducks went back ahead in the top of the ninth when Goldfarb walked and Steer hit a two-run homer. UC Irvine forced extra innings with a run in the bottom of the ninth.
Oregon starter Matt Mercer allowed six hits and four earned runs in four innings.
Mikey Filia walked and was sacrificed to second before stealing third base in the 11th inning. Koss hit a sacrifice fly to end the game.
