Fans and curious music patrons have the chance to explore progressive psychobilly folk grass Friday with Jonathan Warren and the Billy Goats arriving in town from Boise.

The unnecessarily complicated genre is simply a soluble mix of bluegrass folk tunes with a dash of psychedelic rockabilly. Think country mixed with rock with a dose of mind-altering lyrics; an acoustic guitar and a fiddle led by a stand-up bass’s rhythm and a jangly drum beat.

Jonathan Warren’s Billy Goats describe their tunes as “a goat chewing on a can, a cat scratching at your door, it’s foot stompin’ music that makes you want to eat a biscuit. Melodies you wake up humming in the morning, and stick to your bones like peach cobbler.”

Check out retro futuristic Appalachian gypsy tunes beginning at 9:30 p.m. Friday at Sam Bond’s Garage, 407 Blair Blvd. Tickets $7 day of show; 541-431-6603 or www.sambonds.com. Learn more and listen: www.jonathanwarrenmusic.com.
